Film Poster

This is our finished film poster. We are really happy with our final product as we feel it is a good reflection of the story line. We have chosen an image where Megan is posing with a gun ready to pull the trigger. There is a shadow in the background which we created with some low lighting, this made a really interesting effect on the white wall which we both really liked as it was a really clear and crisp silhouette of our main character. We made the decision to include the gun in our film poster, as we feel this is a really necessary thing to include in a film poster which is for a crime/action film. The gun makes it really clear what genre our film is immediately and is really good iconography for what is going to be show in the upcoming film. We blended our photo of Megan, with a landscape photo of London, which shows the houses of parliament, including big ben. These are all iconic tourist features of London, which will immediately catch people's eyes as they would see our film poster on a billboard etc. We felt it was necessary to include this landscape image in our film poster, as our film was filmed in London and it would also make the film appeal to a global audience.
We also included on our film poster, an advertisement to go and watch it in the IMAX cinema, the movie's website and a hashtag that also advertises the film. Just above our films name we included the slogan 'London's Biggest Secret' as we feel something like this would really draw our audience in. As Megan is our main actor in the film we had to include her name in the film poster, as she is a world known actress, so her name alone would attract a wider audience.

We wearnt sure about the type of image we wanted to be shown for our film poster as through our research we had seen quite a variation of different images shown on film posters. These ranging from close ups of the main character, an action shot or quite a posed shot. The only way to decide what type of image we wanted to present for our film poster was to take a variation of different shots and see which one represented the image we wanted to portray about our film the most.
The first photo we took of Megan was a forward facing mid shot, which included her face and some of her body. We made Megan pull a serious face with her eyes looking directly into the camera so that the audience would feel slightly intimidated by the character Sienna. We thought this image would look nice in black and white, however we felt like the pose looked a bit awkward as she had both hands behind her back, also the image wasn't particularly focused on anything or any feature of her. However one thing we did like about this shot was the amount of space which surrounded Megan around the edges, as there were places where we could write important information which is needed on a film poster such as the name of the film, the slogan, the actors name and the date it is is released. However, we decided not to use this shot as it looked a bit pointless and unfocused on any aspect of our film.

The next image we experimented with was this close up of Megan. We had seen quite a few film posters which had just a close up of the big star acting in the film, with simply some text written at the bottom of the image telling the viewer the film title, the actors name, and when the film would be in cinemas. One thing we liked about this image was the way the shot had really focused on Megan's face and not her body. In particular the shot had really focused on her eyes which stood out massively, this makes the image quite eye catching. However once again we had the same problem as we did with the previous photo. We didn't really feel that this image captured what our film was about, therefore we felt that this image wouldn't really advertise our film well enough for it to be used as the film poster image.

After not really liking the way we were taking any of the previous photos for our film poster, we decided to take a different out look to the whole film poster idea. This time we took a shot which was landscape instead of portrait as we thought that often, film posters are advertised on billboards and buses, so a landscape photo would be much more useful to create rather than a portrait. We also decided to make our photo a little more posed and bring back in the gun to our photos, as we felt it really would state to an audience what our film was going to be about. We then directed Megan to point the gun at a wall, in an intimidating way. We feel that this pose is really intimating and is one of which that shows the audience a person in a situation that they are in control off. We feel this is something we really wanted to get out in our film trailer, that it is an action film based around a woman, not a man!! At this stage in the photographing process we had already started to get ideas about how we could edit our film poster and decided we needed to capture an image that would look suitable with an image of London blended into the background. We then started to take more and more landscape photos, but this was the one we were most happy with. We also felt that with this photo Megan's face was very centered and there was loads of space around the outside to write necessary information about the film around.
To create our poster we used Photoshop. We firstly edited the image of Megan, so that it was slightly purple, to do this we went onto 'Image', 'Adjustments' and then 'Colour Balance. We played around with different shades of colours on the image so it was slightly purple/blue. Once we were happy with the colour we then added in our landscape image of London. We chose this landscape image of London as we felt that the pink, orange and shadow colours which were featured on the photo really matched with the way we had just edited our picture of Megan to have a more purple/blue look to it. The way the landmarks of London were in the shadows as well was something we knew would benefit the image of Megan that would be blended with it, as the dark colours of the landmarks would really stand out in a professional way.
Once we had both images in the canvas we used the blending tools to blend both images together nicely. We also made the image of Megan slightly opaque so that the image of London could be clearly seen underneath it.
Once we were happy with the images, we had to add text as we found on the bottom of many film posters they have a huge paragraph of writing with all of the film crews credits. We then had to find an appropriate font, and changed the size of it when we writ important names e.g Poppy and Serina. We then added in our film title, slogan, actors name and advertisements for the IMAX, website and a hashtag for twitter.

We asked our target audience what they thought of our film poster and they said...
"Love the colour scheme, its really eye-catching"
"The image of London has been edited really well"
"I like the way the gun is not in your face obvious, it really reveals a lot about the character of the girl, she seems very secretive".

Magazine Cover:

This is our magazine poster, we edited this using Photoshop. We really wanted a close up side shot of Megan looking down regretfully holding a gun. Once we were happy with our desired shot, we began editing it. We decided to make our entire film poster black and white, we feel like dark colours represent crime and violence, which are all things you find in an action film. We also took inspiration from the James Bond Empire film cover, as his photo is taken in black and white. We like the way that in black and white you have to look closely to see the gun, this shows that Sienna is quite a secretive character, she isn't your normal crime film character. On other Empire magazine covers we noticed that there was often competitions that were advertised to win things, as this would attract more people to buy and look at the magazine. We included our slogan 'London's Greatest Secret' at the very top of our magazine, we did this because we thought it would be a good idea to closely link all 3 of our products; the trailer, the film poster and now the magazine cover. All 3 of our products include this slogan, therefore the audience know that the advertisement going on is for the same film. We also included a feature telling the reader theres a film review inside and a exclusive interview, both of these will attract people to read the magazine.

To create our magazine poster, the first step was to obviously take an appropriate picture of Megan, the film poster we took inspiration from for this photo was the film poster for Colombiana. We loved this pose, so decided to recreate it ourselves, but closer up as we feel a magazine poster needs to be more personal to the star of the film. We also felt that a black and white themed color scheme fitted better with our magazine poster as this represented the crime genre more. Therefore we needed to find a EMPIRE magazine logo, which was in black or white. We were unsuccessful in finding a EMPIRE logo which fitted within our color scheme. However this wasn't too much of an issue, as as we had already decided that we wanted the entire color scheme of our cover to be black and white on Photoshop we set it up so that all layers would be in black and white.
Next we selected our image, as our actor was a busy person and we knew she wouldn't be available very often to be able to take photos for our magazine and film posters we made sure we took as many photo's as possible of her so that we had lots of variations of shots that could potentially be used! This really worked to our advantage as it gave us a chance to ask our peers which photos they liked best and gave us a chance to have a closer look as to what the photos bought across about our film.
These were our first shots of Megan....
This was our first image. We really liked this image of Megan as the pose was good and we really liked the white background. However we noticed that a shadow appeared over Megan's face, this was something that was a really big problem to us as we knew that in our magazine cover we wanted to heavily focus on the actor in our film as that is what magazine covers are often there for. Another problem which occurred was that the photo was taken length ways, the photo could be cropped but to fit the  appropriate portrait film poster size the image would have to be cropped, then stretched onto the canvas onto Photoshop creating a lower quality image.
This was the 2nd image we took. This image was a potential image as it was taken portrait meaning that it fitted the canvas. However we still had the problem with the shadow on Megan's face because of the low angle lighting we had created with a lamp. We knew that when editing this it would be a problem as Megan's face would be darker than everything else. Another problem we established was to do with Megan's pose. We started to dislike the way we had positioned her as she only had one hand on the gun. We feel like this made it look like she had less power and that the gun was something which was there only to look at and not be used. Therefore we decided not to use this photo. We also felt that the gun was far to close to her face and it just looked like we were trying to stick the gun in to the shot.

The last image we put into consideration was this one. We both really liked this close up of Megan holding the gun as we feel that the pose in this presents our movie really well. She is holding the gun in both hands looking down on it in a meaningful way which shows power and control of the character in the film. We decided to change the background of our image once we started to take more and more shots, we feel this background would go better as a magazine cover as it is glittery and has a nice sophisticated effect. Also the gun sort of blends in to the background, meaning that you have to look closely to see it. This is an effect we really liked as we wanted to get away from the idea that the gun was just being stuck into our film poster to show there is going to be violence involved in our film, we wanted it to look like something which was there for a reason and we feel Megan's facial expression, pose and the way the gun blends in with the image all present this. Another thing we really liked about this image is the lighting. To get this lighting effect with a shadow in the background we had to move the lamp around quite a lot until it showed Megan's shadow in a way which we were happy with, this did take quite a while but we feel like the end result is worth it. We really like the shadow effect as it is something which adds a dramatic feel to the photograph.

Editing Process; Adding a trail

Adding a Trail:

There was one shot we really liked which was a low angle shot, which we had to lie on the floor to film. This one shot we really liked as not only did it feature our character but also the busy London background all around it. We got Megan to run away from the camera, as this shot followed on from the one which Megan looks behind her shoulder in fear at something coming up behind her. As she is running quite fast, we wanted the shot to last longer so that the audience can take it the surroundings of London but also see that Megan is running away from something. The shot was really quick so we firstly has to slow it down by 25% so it was a bit longer. We then went onto the the edits section of on Final Cut Pro and played around with a few features which could make this running shot look a bit more interesting.  One effect we both really liked and thought looked interesting was the effect called 'Trails'. This effect makes the movement of the shot slow down and almost shadow the movements which are made in the shot, in this case it was Megan running. So each time Megan moved slightly there was almost a shadow of her previous movement behind her. We felt like this effect emphasised this running shot more and make it more interesting.

Editing Process; Colour Masking

Adding a colour mask:

For this one shot we wanted the colour of focus to be red, whilst all the other colours in the shot were drained and more dull. We did this buy creating a colour mask, a colour mask isolates a particular colour on an image. On the selected clip, we went onto the colour collection bar in the effects section. Then we selected the Apply masks section. This then makes the colour mask parameter appears in the same section as the video inspector. As the mask parameter appears we then enlarged it and dragged it to fit the entire section of the post box as that was the iconic piece of set we wanted our audience to focus on. As we changed the size of the parameter the rest of the image becomes monochrome/ a more drained. We used a lot of mask parameters to make sure that the entire section of the post box was filled to create our desired effect. We then played around with the different shadows, mid-tones and exposure levels that we could use on our monochrome section of the shot until we found a colour shot which had a bit of colour, so it wasn't black and white.

Overlaying Shots:

We had two shots which we really liked of Megan walking towards the post box and posting a mysterious item. We really wanted a way to incorporate these two shots into our trailer without it becoming too repetitive, doing a shot overlay was a really good way to do this. To create this overlay we cut both of our shots and dragged one on top of the other. We then played around with the opacity and the burning techniques on final cut pro which gave us different ideas of how the two shots could be incorporated together through using different colours etc. Both of the shots had the colour masking technique so they blended really well together and created an effective and different technique.

Editing Process

Editing of our trailer:

The first part of our editing process of our trailer was too insert a 'Restricted audience' warning. We thought this was necessary as when when analysing other trailers we noticed that they almost always had the film rating at the beginning or end of their trailer. This is something that has to feature at the beginning of every film trailer, as if you are a parent with a small child, about to watch a trailer, it informs you right away that you should not encourage your children to watch the film/trailer to this film as it involves content that it not suitable for everyone.
In our film trailer, we knew it was vital that we used an establishing shot of London, as in most action films they use a birds eye view of the location they are filming in. We needed an establishing shot of London, but obviously this was not practical and impossible for us to do. Therefore we used a found shot of London. We then cut out the parts of this shot using the blade tool on Final Cut Pro, so only the more profound landmarks of London were seen. We did this as it meant we would target a larger audience due to the amount of tourist's these landmarks attract. The next thing we did was added in subtitles at the bottom left hand corner of the shot, adding the date and location of the shot, this makes the audience aware of the time period and where the film is set. We thought that adding these subtitles fitted in quite well with the genre as it is quite a common feature in action films, as often action films are filmed and set in various different locations worldwide. Obviously we didn't have the ability to be able to film in loads of different countries, but the subtitles set the idea of filming in loads of locations. Once we had cut our shots we added a type writer sound for a professional effect.

We wanted our characters to be introduced in our trailer, we started of with a long shot of Megan walking towards the camera. We think this shot is effective as in the background it looks really busy on the roads, yet the character is on her own walking, meaning that she looks really isolated and endangered on her own.

As she gets closer to the camera, she then turns her head as if something dangerous is behind her, we slowed down this shot to build the tension and create a sense of danger as the audience won't know whats behind her. At this point her character is introduced, we used slow motion, then pull focus to blur out the shot, her name then appears so the focus of the shot moves so its on her name.

We got the inspiration of showing her name like this, partly from the film Legend, we really liked the way the characters got introduced in this trailer, so we experimented on final cut, until we found a way which suited our film. The font we used was quite toned down, and not in your face, which we quite like as it fits our theme.
One shot that we were really pleased with in our trailer was this low shot which focused on our characters feet running. In the middle of this shot our character drops her gun, this creates a suspicious effect and makes the audience want to know what is going on behind her and ask multiple questions such as; why is she dropping her gun? Who is behind her? What is about to happen next? We slowed down this shot so that the dropping of the gun is seen more vividly and moves across the screen in slow motion so that is something that the audience have to notice. The black gun is an iconic feature of our trailer so the audience have to see it.

Task 13 Ancillary Products, FILM POSTERS

Ancillary Products: Film Posters

We really like this magazine poster for James Bond in Empire. One thing we really like about this film magazine cover is the way it is completely focussed on the main character of the film. The photo is in black and white which looks really effective and the contrast between the facial features and the rest of his face with a shadow effect makes the character look mysterious.
The way the gun is quite subtle and not a main focus of the poster, but is just subtly shown in the corner of the poster is much more effective than just having the gun in a really obvious and noticeable position on the poster. The focused shot really emphases the characters facial expression making him look professional and dangerous.
We liked the way the film poster only uses toned down colours such as whites and gold, we feel as if this goes with the action genre of the film and makes the overall appearance look very professional. The film again poster has quite small text on the 'Bond is Back!', this is good as it would make a passer  by of the magazine have to take a closer look at the cover drawing interest into the film.

Another film poster we really liked was this James Bond Skyfall cover. Once again the picture of the main character is in black and white, this seems quite a common theme for action genres to have them in black and white. This is something we may take inspiration from as we really think it makes the covers look more serious and quite classy, which is what most action genre films present, a classy but dangerous life style. We quite liked the way the characters head overlaps the Empire logo as it shows that the main focus of the magazine cover is the movie as the character over powers the title. The white background is also quite bold, and contrasts with the black suit and dark shadows surrounding James Bond's body. The gun once again features in this film cover as this is iconography of the action genre. The gun, the pose and the black suit and tie costume all tie in together to create a really upper class and desirable look. The colour theme black, white and gold follows in this film poster as well, which is also a repeated theme which the James Bond films must follow. Once again the title of the film is also very small and in a subtle place.

Film Posters

Film Posters That Inspire Us:

What inspires us the most about this film poster in particular is the close up shot of the main character Angelina Jolie. We feel as if the close up is really effective because it puts a face to the film, so for example people will see the actor and immediately think of this film. Also because Angelina Joile is a really well known actress, by just having her face on the poster markets it  really well. Her facial expression and the focus on her eyes conveys the strong action genre of the film as she looks daunting and purposeful.
Angelina Jolie's name is at the very top of the poster, in a contesting white font. The white font contrasts with her jet black hair, this makes her name stand out making it clear to the viewer that she is the leading actress. The way in which her name is featured in the poster before the actual film title tells us a lot about the way the film is being marketed via the actress staring in it, rather than the story itself.
The lighting in the photo is very low key meaning that her face contrasts with her dark hair, the emphasis on her face creates a mysterious feel to the film poster. We really liked the way her hair blends into the background as it creates a dark tone to the film through the colour of her hair. The rhetorical question 'WHO IS SALT?' we think is really effective to have on a film poster, as it makes the audience think and ask themselves what the film could be about. Also featured on the poster is the date the film comes out and a website, we think these are key features to a film poster.
Things we could take from this film poster:
As our main actor has dark hair we think that we could make a poster that is inspired by this one. We really like the idea of having a close up of our main actor to represent our film. We feel as if we focus in on her eyes it would reveal the dangerous side to our character, then making the contrast of the image really high the dark hair would create a black background. We also want to feature the name of our lead actress on our film poster, as if she is a really famous actor as it would make the poster look more professional. For our poster shoot we think our main actress India should have her hair down and be wearing some eye makeup which wall draw attention and emphasise her eyes more.

This is another film poster which we would like to take inspiration from. This film poster caught our attention firstly due to the striking pose featured. The pose includes a woman holding a gun against her face with a lowered head. We really liked this pose on the front of the poster due to the gun being iconography of the action genre, the gun alongside the characters pose and body language brings across the idea of regret and sadness of the character, possibly to do with the events that occur in the film. Another thing that we really liked in this particular poster is the way the setting of the film appears in a location shot, blended into the the separate shot of the character. We thought this is a good way to add interest to the shot of the main character, so that the film poster isn't just a shot of the main character holding a gun as this would be really boring and wouldn't market the film well. Showing the location the film is shot in in the film poster is quite a good way to encourage viewers to watch the film as the location can add interest for the audience.

The American Sniper film poster is one which we inspire ours to look like and to take ideas from. This poster first caught our attention due to the clear white/grey background which contrasts with the main character based in the centre wearing his army uniform. Everything about this poster screams the action genre, especially the uniform which suggests that this film has connotations of war and violence. The main character Bradley Cooper's facial expression implies desperation and worry, as he is fighting in the US army he would be dealing with life changing events daily and also worrying about his family back at home so this explains his look of sadness and confusion. Another thing which stands out to us on the poster is the American flag, this allows the viewer to understand part of the storyline before they've even watched the film, clearly the film is going to explore a group of soldiers fighting on behalf of the American people to protect their country. Also as the USA is such a tourist attraction the flag is there to market the film, and make it a global film as people all over the world will be attracted to watch it as it isn't designed specifically for a particular niche market.

Our Logo

Our company logo

We created our company logo on Motion. We inverted the colours of our clip so it created a black and white look and enchanted the logo of our company. Our logo features an animated cage being broken which goes along with the name of our company logo.
To get the animation of the bird breaking the cage we used YouTube and found 'The Bird Animation'. We saved this video and put it onto Motion where we changed the colors around and added our company name onto the front of it. We really like our logo as it fits so well with our company name, it is also very distinctive and is somthing audiences will remember as soon as they hear our companies name!

Task 10: 25 Word Pitch

Our 25 word pitch...

This is our 25 word pitch. We included two characters names and mentioned that there was a big secret involved in the film. We also included the location of the film. We think that in this 25 word pitch we have included three of the main aspects of our film, a part of the plot, a character and the location. By mentioning these three things it draws people in.

Task 9: Costume and Make-Up

Costume:

Our inspiration for our main character Sienna's costume comes from Angelina Jolie in 'Salt' and Zoe Saldana in 'Colombiana' as they are both crime/action films that have a female leading role very much like our trailer will be we thought that they were the perfect inspiration. As in both films both main characters are mainly dressed in black to camouflage themselves, this is where we got the idea to dress 'Sienna' in all black or a camel colour trench coat.  In our trailer Sienna will be wearing a trench coat in dark colours such as a camel/black, as dark colours reflect danger, and the trench implying a mystery aspect, this furthers the genre of our film. The dark colours also reflect on the way that Sienna lives her life, she is a very dark dangerous character who holds a lot of secrets that will do a lot of damage if they are found out. The darkness shows the audience how
there is never a dull moment in the life Sienna has chose to live, it is full of action and crime. In 'Salt' and 'Colombiana' we feel it is important how they wear black and large coats as we feel this shows power, the colour black represents the colour of the hidden, the secretive and the unknown, creating an air of mystery which reflects on the storyline of both films. As in Colombiana she is keeping a secret from the police and trying to get revenge for her mother and father's death and in Salt she is trying to protect the USA by destroying past of her past which she got away from that has come back to haunt her.  Another reason we decided that black would be the main colour of costume in our film is because due to recent surveys it is known that a person is seen more aggressive and frightening when wearing all black as it reflects there dark mysterious personality and thoughts. We feel that in our trailer this will allow the people Sienna is against to know they should be worried and she is a vital enemy of theirs.

This was our final costume choice, the trench coat looks similar to a Burberry Trench coat which is a iconic fashion statement which was an essential during times of war and violence. The Burberry trench coat looks very professional and sophisticated, but also very mysterious. Although we would have liked the coat to be black, we feel as if the costume still works well. The trench coat with the black bag with metal handles also we feel looks very professional and makes the audience question what is in the bag. The black bag also brings in the colour scheme we wanted to stick too of black. Megan was also wearing black jeans and casual shoes which contrasts with the top half of the costume, the black jeans and trainers make it clear to the audience that she is a professional spy, but is constantly ready to take action on anything that is going on around her. Although we would have liked our actor to wear black boots, we found that this was quite an unrealistic stereotype that woman in action films have, as in reality no one could really take action on a criminal in black boots.

Make- Up:

In our trailer we have decided that main character Sienna will have very natural make-up as it is an action/crime/horror film we understand that she as a character would not be very bothered about applying lots of dramatic make-up everyday so the natural look portrays her character greatly.
An inspiration for our natural make-up comes from Cara Delevingne in 'Paper Towns' although this isn't an action/ crime film her make-up shows how ideally how we would like ours to look in our trailer. This gives her a distinctive look, showing off her natural beauty.
Although we are going for natural make-up we have decided that she will only be wearing the essential makeup such as foundation and mascara, as this will be the only obvious make-up on Sienna we feel as if it is necessary as it reflects her having secrets and her mysterious persona.
Although we have put the fake blood on Sienna's hands in the prop section as it represents what has just taken place in the trailer, and how death or drama has just occurred, we do still feel it partly comes under the make-up section. We come to the decision of using it to create drama and to get a reaction from the audience, making them aware of the genre. We also decided that Megan should defiantly just have her hair tied up, as this shows that she needs to have her hair away from her face to show how she is ready for action. We feel as if the hair tied up away from the face looks very professional and separates her from the stereotype that all woman care about is their appearance.

Task 8: Props

ADDED PROPS:
During filming our actor came along with a doctor like bag, at first we weren't going to include this in the filming as a prop. However carrying the doctor like bag adds effect to the overall look of our character, as it makes her look very professional. Also during some of the shots she takes the gun out of her bag, almost as if it is an everyday item, this adds to the danger effect of our film. Through our character pulling a gun out of her bag it almost makes it seem like an every day item for her.

Task 7: Actor/ Actress Shots

Task 6: Location Shots

Establishing Shot:

We chose to have an establishing shot of London in the opening of our trailer, we felt this was necessary as it is where the film will be set. In earlier research we picked up on that in a lot of action film trailers they use establishing shots at the beginning of their trailers to set the scene, for example the trailer for Legend and James Bond: Specture. As we want our film to appeal to a global audience having an establishing shot of London will immediately attract viewers from other countries who take an interest in english culture. As it wouldn't actually be possible for us ourselves to film an establishing shot of London from a Birdseye view, we had to use a found shot which we got off youtube that went around all the main places in London such as; big ben, houses of parliament and all the sky scrapers in London. We think the shots we found for this were really good as they highlighted the main areas that London is known for, therefore meaning that when an audience watch our trailer, without being told they will immediately know the film is going to be shot. This also makes our film appeal to a audience that love the London culture.

Shot of London Streets:

We are using the streets of London in our trailer as we think that London is a much more interesting place to film compared to the streets in Bromley and Beckenham. We think by filming it in London it would make our trailer more eye-catching and appealing to different audiences. We are going to film just off the road of Oxford Street, near Selfridges as all the roads around this area are filled with expensive cars, wide roads and really tall buildings which would look really interesting on film. The atmosphere of London is something which really captivates us as it is always so lively and is often associated with business workers and profession. We feel like this atmosphere is appropriate to our film trailer as we want it to look as serious as possible. Also most action/crime films that are filmed in England are mainly based around London as i
t is such an interesting place to film and is somewhere the audience will immediately recognise. This is one road we filmed on called Wigmore Street which was a road off Oxford Street near Portland Sqaure. We chose this road to film on as it set a really busy atmosphere for a good location shot. Also when we were filming here loads of iconic London features appear in shots such as black taxi's and really fancy cars.

Another place we filmed was just outside a hotel called The Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill. This was a hotel just off Oxford Street. We didn't originally plan to film outside a hotel, however when walking past looking for new places to film in London we stumbled across this very posh hotel which had a black Lamborghini outside. Having an expensive car in a film/film trailer is a very James Bond thing to feature, and really sets a very cool and sophisticated feel to a film trailer, which are theme which are presented very commonly in action/crime films. By filming outside this hotel it was almost as if we were renting out an expensive car to feature in our trailer, but for free!

Apartments In London Shots:

Another location we wanted to film was outside and expensive looking apartment/house in London, as we wanted to make it appear that our character lived in London. We knew that in Gloucester Place they had really expensive and eye catching apartments and buildings which looked like stereotypical London houses. When searching around for locations we could film our character outside we spotted this restaurant which looked like a house on the outside and immediately knew that this is where we would be filming! We thought we could get some really nice shots of our main character walking out of the door from different angles low and high, to make it look like it was her house or a mysterious building which she was leaving. The two large black doors we really liked and thought they would look really good on camera. However we knew we would have to be careful filming outside someones house/ a restaurant like this as it is private properly so we had to do it discreetly.

London Oxford Street:

As we were filming in London, we knew it would be silly of us to not film in one of Londons best known streets; Oxford Street. By the time we got to Oxford Street after exploring in London for places to film, it was quite dark and the whole of Selfridges was really well illuminated which we thought looked really interesting and camera! We wanted to film on Oxford street as we know its a really vibrant and busy road with lots of atmosphere and so much going on all the time! However we knew it would be really difficult to film on Oxford Street due to the masses of people constantly walking around and it would be really difficult to set up a tripod in the middle of a really busy street! So we thought about using Oxford Street just for a place where we could film location shots, as location shots on film trailers really take up a huge majority of the trailer itself for a lot of the time.

Task 5: Story Boards

We were really hoping to be able to film in London Selfridges for our trailer. However to make sure we weren't going to get into any trouble for filming we had to ask security if we were able to film in store. Sadly, and to our disappointment, we were not able to film in London Selfridges, as we were told it would disturb shoppers and cause risks in store. However instead of filming in Selfridges, we did find an alternative, which was the outside of the London Regency Hotel which had a number of very expensive cars parked outside which we were allowed to film around! We thought this would have a really cool look in our trailer, as often in action films, the expensive cars the actors drives, adds to the spectacle of the film (James Bond).
